ABOUT THE BREED
Miniature Schnauzers
Origins and personality
Miniature schnauzers originated in Germany in the mid to late 19th century. The are a fun loving breed, very affectionate and although very curious and inquisitive in nature they are not destructive. Miniature Schnauzers are great with children and people in general and love meeting and playing with other dogs. They don’t malt so they are perfect for allergy sufferers.
looking after a miniature schnauzer
A miniature Schnauzer is perfect for anyone looking for a breed that enjoys being a companion dog, to playing in the garden all the way to long country works,
Like any breed, you will need to build their daily exercise up gradually to fit your lifestyle.
They are highly intelligent and learn quickly so toys to keep their brains working will go down well

IN YOUR WORDS
We love hearing stories about our puppy’s new lives and seeing pictures sent to us by the new puppy parents. Below are just a few emails we have received from loving new owners. Keep them coming, we love to hear how our puppies are doing and pictures are even better
Just a quick note to say thank you Heather! Elvis has been fantastic just a little bit of whining at night but nothing we don’t all sleep through. My son Farley and Elvis already have a great friendship and have been having fun all day. We have not had one single accident and he has gone outside to the garden to do his toilet busy every time, once again thank you!!
Hi Heather, well, a month since we took your Hetty into our home and we have to report that she is an absolute darling. Sleeps 8 hours at night in her crate with no accidents. Still a bit manic during the first hour awake but that’s only to be expected. The only problem early on was her reluctance to eat royal canin but hasn’t looked back since she went on to a raw diet and now reminds us when her next meal is due. Has started puppy classes and her recall is brilliant. We are so proud of her, all thanks to you.
We had a great journey home, Jeffrey was very chilled and slept the whole way! He’s loving playing in the garden and is currently crashed out in front of the log burner exhausted after dashing around the house and garden with a squeaky toy raccoon in his mouth ( his favourite toy!)
I completely adore him and can”t wait to take him to school tomorrow – he’s going to be an amazing therapy puppy I just know it

Pet Parent Notes
Your First Few Weeks
Socialisation is one of the most important things you can do for your new puppy. When you get him or her home, try and find a local puppy training group, or see if your vets offer puppy parties. This is a great way to get them used to other dogs, and in a safe environment. Puppies that have been socialised effectively in these early weeks are far less likely to react negatively to new situations, noises, people, dogs and other animals.
EXERCISE
As you can imagine, puppies need much less exercise than adult dogs so if you already have a dog in the house it is important to make plans to walk both dogs separately to begin with. If you over exercise your puppy you can quickly overtire it, and more importantly, damage its developing joints, which may cause early arthritis. A good rule of thumb is a ration of five minutes exercise per month of age (up to twice a day).
